In Biology the purpose of life and why we live is ultimately to pass our genetic make-up to the next generation. We live for as long as we do now because of better healthcare and healthier lifestyles.

This is a very big question! Biologically, we are alive because we are made of cells that can use energy to self-sustain, grow, interact and replicate forming tissues, organs and our whole body. Philosophically, lots of important people in the past have tried to answer your same question. My favourite one was given by Einstein, who believed that we are alive to make ourselves and other people happy.

Isn’t it nice to think we live for the pursue of happiness?

You are alive to fulfil your destiny and God given purpose. Could be through work or making use of your talent if you have one.
Talent is different from career by the way.
