I got interested in biology when I was 14-15 but I wasn’t 100% sure I wanted to be a scientist until I was around 20

I liked Biology at school, but didn’t know I wanted to be a scientist until I changed courses at university (from maths) because I liked biology and learning how the body works more! My mum lives with a condition which could be treated better by learning more about it using science, and I decided wanted to do something with my life which helps people. It’s all about problem solving and trying to find answers which is really rewarding.

I never really thought ‘I want to be a scientist’. I just knew that I like science, biology the most, and wanted a career that involved this. I’ve had a lot of great opportunities, but I’m always open to doing anything I find interesting and enjoy. So far, I’m liking it!

I didn’t really know until my first university open day when I learned about neuroscience!

Since I was a young child really, I didn’t know what sort of scientist I wanted to be, but knew that it was definitely in my future somehow!
