Oh can I turn that around? Is there evidence to show Mars was habitable? Yes, check out the National Geographic article out nine years ago today! I am more a biologist than a physicist so best to consult the experts 🙂

      Quote from the article:

“We have found a habitable environment,” said John Grotzinger, project scientist for the Curiosity mission. “The water that was here was so benign and supportive of life that if a human had been on the planet back then, they could drink it.”

This isn’t really my subject area and I don’t think there’s a definitive answer, but the atmosphere on Mars is mostly carbon dioxide (so we would need our own oxygen), the surface is too cold for humans and there is low gravity. But never say never… we may develop solutions to this in the future or it may be habitable for other forms of life than humans!

I think it can be but not as much as our current universe.
